Was Al Qaeda Used As Guns For Hire In Attack Upon Iraq Central Bank?

A senior official from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s office told Iraq’s al-Rafidayn paper that the June 13, 2010 attack upon the Central Bank of Iraq in Baghdad was to cover-up corruption. The official said that the preliminary investigation of the incident has allegedly found that senior members of the government and bank workers coordinated with Al Qaeda in Iraq to attack the bank and destroy documents. If true, this would confirm suspicions that Al Qaeda in Iraq is connected to parts of the government, and some militants might have become guns for hire.
